Job Description
As a Laundry Steward/Laundress at Eko Hotels & Suites, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and high-quality processing of all hotel linens, guest laundry, and staff uniforms. This role is crucial to maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards of our hotel, contributing significantly to the overall guest experience. You will operate various laundry equipment, follow specific washing and drying instructions, and ensure all items are meticulously folded, sorted, and delivered according to departmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and separate laundry items according to fabric type, color, and required wash cycles.
- Operate washing machines, dryers, presses, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor laundry cycles and adjust settings as needed to achieve optimal cleaning results.
- Apply appropriate stain removal techniques for various fabrics and stains.
- Inspect all laundered items for cleanliness, damage, and quality before folding and sorting.
- Fold, iron, and press linens, towels, guest clothing, and staff uniforms to hotel standards.
- Maintain accurate records of laundry processed and inventory levels.
- Ensure all laundry equipment is kept clean and well-maintained, reporting any malfunctions immediately.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards within the laundry department.
- Assist with the delivery and collection of linen to and from various hotel departments.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a laundry or housekeeping department, preferably in a hotel setting.
- Knowledge of laundry equipment operation and basic maintenance.
- Familiarity with different fabric types and appropriate washing/drying methods.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
