Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commercial Electrician to join our dynamic team in Badagry, Lagos State. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in various commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical codes, safety regulations, and the ability to work effectively on complex projects, ensuring all electrical work is performed to the highest standards of safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in commercial electrical work and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in commercial and industrial environments.
- Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with local and national electrical codes, including the Nigerian Electrical Installation Regulations.
- Read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine appropriate wiring layouts and system configurations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, power outages, and system issues efficiently and safely.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components to ensure longevity and prevent costly breakdowns.
- Connect power to new equipment, machinery, and systems, adhering strictly to safety protocols and industry standards.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety standards and procedures, promoting a safe working environment.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals, project managers, and team members to ensure seamless project execution and timely completion.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior electricians or apprentices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Commercial Electrician in a similar capacity.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, conduits, and components.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for electrical issues.
- Thorough understanding of safety procedures and local/national electrical codes (e.g., Nigerian Electrical Installation Regulations).
- Ability to use a variety of electrical hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in various environments (e.g., heights, confined spaces).
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or completion of an accredited apprenticeship program in electrical technology.
- Relevant professional certification such as Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III in Electrical Installation.
- Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Knowledge of low voltage systems (e.g., data cabling, fire alarm systems).
